Jason Thompson is a full-time trade school Instructor for UA Local 853 in Toronto, Ontario, Canada, with more than 26 years of experience installing special hazard fire protection systems. He is a licensed sprinkler fitter and star qualified, holds Instructor certificates in Trade School and Construction Safety, and certifications from NAUSC (National Association of Unions Schools and Colleges) and ASSE International. Thompson served on a provincial advisory committee for six years as a subject matter expert on fire protection for Ontario, served as a trade board member for the Ontario College of Trades for the Sprinkler and Fire protection trade, and played roles in working groups to create National Exams, Curriculums and helped create the RSOS (Red Seal Occupational Standard) for the fire protection industry in Canada. He is a member of the ASSE 15000/27000 Fire Protection Technical Committee and a member of the Fire Suppression Systems Association (FSSA). He teaches and builds fitter upgrade courses for the JTAC (Joint Training and Apprenticeship Committee) in Ontario and train-the-trainer courses at various colleges. Thompson has an associate’s degree in applied science.
