Time Moves Relatively Quickly

Time moves relatively quickly. Just look out the window – winter is already over and spring is upon us. Wait, I would like to retract that statement … in many parts of the country it is still disheartening to look out the window. Look at the calendar instead and there it is, we’ve arrived! After walking out into crisp 5-degree air (negative 15-degree wind chill) this morning, and setting a new snowfall record in February, spring still appears to be a long way off. On a positive note, there’s no need to tune up the lawn mower any time soon.

Now, back to my point on the passing of time. It seems as if the Annual Meeting just took place, but here we are at the Mid-Year Meeting already. Planning is well under way for the 2019 ASSE International Annual Meeting and, believe me, Sept. 22-26 will be here before we realize it. If you’ve wondered what takes place at our Annual Meetings or haven’t attended in a while, then I encourage you to mark your calendar and attend the first co-located ASSE International / IAPMO conference. The 2019 ASSE International Meeting will be co-located with IAPMO’s 90th Annual Education and Business Conference at the Silver Legacy Hotel and Casino in Reno, NV. For a number of years, I have attended both meetings, which are typically only weeks apart. I continue to be surprised by how few people attend both conferences when the focus of both organizations are so intermingled. This co-located meeting will give individuals a unique opportunity to find out what the other side does and will allow you to attend special joint meetings, events, and seminars. You may register for both conferences, or add day passes to attend IAPMO events and meetings, at a discounted rate by visiting www.asse-plumbing.org/reno-register. So again, mark Sept. 22-26 on your calendar and check our website regularly for additional because September will arrive before we realize it – which means winter will be right around the corner.

For those of you wondering if spring weather will ever arrive … perhaps an ASSE International Professional Qualifications Standard for groundhogs is in order?
