Health and Safety

As members of ASSE International, health and safety are more than topics of discussion — they are responsibilities we carry every day. In developing standards for products and professionals, we protect the public and our communities. Whether we are installing med-gas systems, installing fire protection systems, or protecting potable water systems, the work we do directly impacts daily life across North America and the world.

This issue of Working Pressure focuses on the importance of maintaining strong standards with health and safety built into each one. Technology, codes, and standards continue to evolve, but one thing remains constant — everyone deserves to return home safely at the end of the day.

ASSE certifications obtained by industry professionals continue to play a major role in advancing health and safety throughout the plumbing, mechanical, and fire protection industries. From backflow prevention, ICRA, medical gas, and water quality, our standards remain at the forefront of protecting public health. I encourage everyone to stay engaged in the training opportunities before them and take pride in the professionalism that defines our organization.

I also want to remind everyone that registration is now open for the 2026 ASSE International Annual Meeting in beautiful Colorado Springs. The Annual Meeting is always an outstanding opportunity to reconnect with industry leaders, exchange ideas, attend educational sessions and committee meetings, and strengthen relationships that keep our organization moving forward. I encourage all of you to register early and attend.

The strength of ASSE has always been its members — skilled professionals committed to excellence at work and at home in our communities. Thank you for everything you do to support our industry, protect public health, and represent our organization with pride.
